Internet Scams PDF Print E-mail

Blastoff Network......it's not exactly "illegal" but it is definitely shady. I got an email to join this organization and "save hundreds", because I got the email from someone I knew I trusted the email enough to actually try it. After clicking on the link included in the email I noticed...they already have all of my information...my name, my email address, my date of birth, how did they get this information, why do they have this information? Very shady. So I start reading around in the fine print things that most people just ignore and discover they have this information because my friend gave it to them when they sent me the original email, that is definitely not ok. But, I'm still trusting this person to not send me to an internet scam, so i proceed with the application and finish it. Shortly afterwards I discover you don't "save" any money at all unless someone else that YOU invite to JOIN the Blastoff Network signs up and then buys something. So after deciding this was a waste of time I tried to Un-Register from the site and found that there is no option to do that. Great...now they've got me and I can't break free. Spam filters don't fail me now!

Less reliable...but more profitable PDF Print E-mail

The new PLAYSTATION 3's controller is a six-axis dual shock design that looks like this -->

But what happens when this seemingly harmless controller....craps out? Well...you could buy a new one....but...what if it craps out while your playing an online game and you lose because of this....well now your the laughing stock of the gaming community because you got your ass handed to you by a prepubescent 10 year old spewing racial slurs about your moma many times during your demise. Well...then something like this might happen.....

This + this = this

For those of you wondering where I am going with this, here is my point, I own controllers from my first NES that are over 20 years old...guess what....THEY WORK! These PS3 controllers last around 6 months before they become almost useless. Also these controllers cost a massive 60$...thats right...60 big ones...that's almost the price of one brand new main stream game

HEY SONY! WAKE UP! MAKE A GOOD CONTROLLER NOT A CHEAP ONE YOU ASSHOLES! Seriously, they skimped on the design to save a few bucks...and then up'd the price anyway....

Another interesting thing that some of you might not know, if your PS3 has a problem and stops working, it could be something simple and inexpensive to fix it, but that won't stop SONY from charging you a flat rate fee of 200$ to fix it. When my PS3 broke I took a little initiative and decided to figure out what broke and fix it myself. With a volt meter and a screwdriver I discovered that a fuse in the power supply unit had gone out, I simply ebayed "PS3 POWER UNIT" and found thousands of results. I ordered a power unit for 30$ and now my PS3 works fine. SUCK ON THAT SONY!

Hackers Delight Print

Hugh Pickens writes "The Washington Post reports that disgruntled lovers and spouses considering divorce are flocking to services like YourHackerz.com that boast they have little trouble hacking into Web-based e-mail systems like AOL, Yahoo, Gmail, Facebook and Hotmail. The services advertise openly, and there doesn't appear to be much anyone can do about it because while federal law prohibits hacking into e-mail, without further illegal activity, it's only a misdemeanor, says Orin Kerr, a law professor at George Washington University. 'The feds usually don't have the resources to investigate and prosecute misdemeanors,' says Kerr. 'And part of the reason is that normally it's hard to know when an account has been compromised, because e-mail snooping doesn't leave a trace.' It's not clear where YourHackerz.com is located, but experts suspect that most password hacking businesses are based overseas."

I always wondered how my parents knew what I was doing and when.....

STOP THAT GUY! HES GOT A......halo sniper rifle?

sv_libertarian writes 'A panicked person in Kirkland, WA called local police on Wednesday, claiming they saw someone walking down the street with an AK-47. It was actually a Bungie employee carrying an overgrown model of a Halo sniper rifle, which resembles an AK-47 as much as a Volkswagen resembles a Formula 1 racer.'

Humans are Foolish..... Print

I found this article on Slashdot.com and just thought it was such a stupid waste of time, money, resources, and brain cells, that I would post it here for your judgment.

Mr_Blank writes to mention that the United States' largest business lobby is pushing for a public trial to examine the evidence of global warming and have a judge make a ruling on whether human beings are warming the planet to dangerous effect. "The goal of the chamber, which represents 3 million large and small businesses, is to fend off potential emissions regulations by undercutting the scientific consensus over climate change. If the EPA denies the request, as expected, the chamber plans to take the fight to federal court. The EPA is having none of it, calling a hearing a 'waste of time' and saying that a threatened lawsuit by the chamber would be 'frivolous.' [...] Environmentalists say the chamber's strategy is an attempt to sow political discord by challenging settled science — and note that in the famed 1925 Scopes trial, which pitted lawyers Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan in a courtroom battle over a Tennessee science teacher accused of teaching evolution illegally, the scientists won in the end."

I would like to thank Humanity for being so unbelivably stupid that it gives me something to write about while watching the sand in the hour glass fall until it will fall no more.
